THE CRISTOBAL BALENCIAGA MUSEOA





Last tuesday the 4
th of June, Cristobal Balenciaga has been honoured with a museum in his hometown Getaria in Spain’s, nothern Basque region. He was know for the designer who revolutionised women’s fashion in the 1950s and 60s.Queen Sofia and french designer Hubert Givenchy were among those attending the inauguration ceremony.



The museum occupies more than 5,000 square metres (54,000 square feet) of a 19th century palace in Getaria, to which a modern wing has been added. It also includes a documentation centre and a space for temporary exhibitions. 

This is the first museum built specifically for the exhibit of clothing. The museum will open tomorrow (10th of June) for the public.
