UNRAVEL knitwear in fashion

PART 1

INTRO:
The exhibition begins with an introduction of three designers who have a special bond with knit. They show there work by making three installations. Hilde Frunt & SIGI, mother and son are both passionate about knitting. They have an Knitting studio "Studio Hilde Frunt" that develops many handmade pieces for Belgian designers, and both also have a clothing line that consist entirely of knitwear.

Hilde Frunt and SIGI developed for this exibition an (installation)living room setting, wich emphasizes the intimate family atmosphere in wich they create garments. The installation consists of three silhouettes and several covers for interior items in their own style.

FASHION POST

A DAY IN ANTWERP..
Antwerp is my favourite city and is also known as Europe's leading trendsetters in fashion. They became trendsetters because of the "Antwerp six" a group of influential avant garde fashion designers who gratuated from Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts between 1980-1981. The six designers are; Walter van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulenmeester, Dries van Noten, Dirk Sanae, Dirk Bikkembergs and Marina Yee. The breakthrough occured in 1988 as the group rented a truck and set out for the Londen fashion fair with their collection.

The past few days I am really excited
because tomorrow
I’m going to:

The Fashion Museum MOMU is sheltered in the ModeNatie in the Nationalestraat. ModeNatie accommodates several partners: the Fashion Museum, the Flanders Fashion Institute and the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen. UNRAVEL is an exhibition about a material that is very familiar to all of us. I'm looking forward seeing top pieces by national and international designers and labels.

I will keep you posted..
